Summer School Report 2021
Devonport High School for Girls opted to engage with Summer School Programme offered by the Department for Education to enable an enhanced transition for students due to join us in Year 7 in September 2021, as well as to support vulnerable students already at the school.
There were 5 Summer School days run over a 2 week period which was resourced using our own teaching and support staff.
Our Summer School funding was £24,530.00 which was the actual cost of the staffing and resources to be able to host the Summer School.
Staffing Costs - £15,095
This included the administrative support to organise the Summer School, site staff to set up resources, as well as the teaching and support teams required to staff the School.
Resources Costs - £9435
Activities on the Summer School days included a blend of academic study and wellbeing activities. These included:
- Ice-breaker activities
- Food and Nutrition
- Musical Theatre
- Physical Education
We purchased books and an online Sparx Mathematics homework programme that students could access on the day as well as at home afterwards. We provided meals for Free School Meal students.
The Summer School was very successful, with over 50% of the new Year 7 intake taking part.
