.................................................................................................................

Dear All,

As Chair to the Devonport High School for Girls PTFA I write to encourage new and interested parents, family or friends to come along to our PTFA meetings, and events to help us to continue to support the School - we have our AGM in the 6 th Centre on Tuesday 6 th October at 1900hrs. I wholly appreciate that it is not easy for any of us to devote free-time, but every little helps in these pressing times; but, we cannot afford to standstill, otherwise the organisation will founder, unless new volunteers join us each year. At the end of the day both your daughters and School benefit from our efforts in raising funds.

We are now a registered Charity and the PTFA will work with the Mrs Hemsi and her Team to maximise our revenue opportunities whenever possible. We will therefore be looking at ‘gift aid’, which will ensure our fundraising opportunities are maximised and your money, with your say so, is well used.

We are currently supporting the School with their application for a second specialism over the next two years. That said, in the last few years we have supported individual projects – examples: Ten Tors equipment and training, dance mats and pc equipment for the PE Department , refurbishment of the 6 th Form Centre Common Room as well as many other worthwhile causes.

So please support us if you can by joining the PTFA at their meetings or helping at events when advertised, it is not just primary schools that need assistance.

This year, we will continue to raise money through Year 7-9 Discos at Oceana and held with DHSB & PHSG, refreshments and raffles, the Numbers Club, Student Insurance Scheme, Coach Trips, 11 + Practice Day , Quiz Nights etc - please support where you can as your daughter will benefit from our joint efforts.

Our next meetings are planned for the following dates – always Tuesdays at 1900hrs and held in the Sixth Form Centre:

October 6 th AGM; November 10 th ; January 12 th; March 9 th ;May 11 th ; June 8 th

Thank you in advance, and if you haven’t already done so perhaps consider signing up to our PTFA Numbers Club that benefits not only the School, but the lucky winners each year too.

I hope that you can join us.

Yours

Mike Dunstall
